MNCW’s current order book and estimate after the MOU
- Its current order book is over RM5 million from established clienteles, operating across diverse industries & is expecting to generate substantial revenue and profit from this collaboration with Petrowangsa in the coming financial years, as it is widely known that the O&G industry, notwithstanding its present challenges, does offer very healthy profit margins, coupled with having strong paymasters.
MNCW new strategy and synergistic effect with Petrowangsa
- This collaboration will contribute significantly to the revenue and profits of MNCW in the coming financial years, as they are confident of their proven track records of servicing established clienteles, with the tie up with Petrowangsa’s strong management and their position as an approved licensed holder for Petronas under advertising, will augur well for them as they will secure a share of Petronas’ advertising budget, notwithstanding the present challenging economic climate and the reduced advertising budget.
- As for the marketing strategy, notwistanding support from our established clientele, MNCW has been focusing on driving new growth areas with their expansion into provision of mobile & digital technology solutions to down South & up North in Peninsular Malaysia.
- As for the product strategy, it is important to understand what are the industry trends and factors likely to affect the customers.
- The local product follows the US trends very closely. So to understand the industry trend we would need to observe what is happening in US, like a proxy. 2 major developments is noticed:
a. Location-Targeted mobile advertising is expected to reach >USD10b by 2017 in the US, representing a 52% share of all mobile advertising dollars.
- The growing engagement and interaction with Digital Out-of-Home (DOOH) advertising channels using smart phones, touch screens and other interactive technologies is ever increasing, as consumers are most interested in receiving offers, comparing prices, accessing web / social media sites, downloading content like songs and apps, sharing content with friends, interacting for fun and entertainment, and directly purchasing products.
- Studies have shown that consumers are >40% more receptive to advertising in public places than at home. With the rapid development of using Big Data & IOT technology, to reach profile customers, advertisers are ever looking at ways to maximize the impact of advertising to consumers outside the home.
- This bodes well for MNCW’s further downstream expansion into provision of advertising panels for digital signage solution.
b. Global Gaming revenue is expected to continue to grow >USD25b, following strong growth in both mature/emerging markets, across smart phones & tablets, as mobile games are on track to replace traditional console market as the largest game segments by revenue in years to come.
- This has been evident in the global mobile games revenue as growth has been diverted from PC games to online and social gaming on mobile devices, with the fastest growth found in emerging Southeast Asian markets & China, compared to more matured Western markets (North America / Western Europe).
- This bodes well with MNCW’s plans of development & collaboration in mobile gaming apps, primarily for Massive Multiplayer Online Game (MMOG) which is based on “freemium” model, which is free to download but comes with in-app purchase, targeting avid gamers to reach/advance to further stages of the games.
- The marketing opportunities for mobile contents remains huge/attractive, with applications, games, ringtones, music, video clips, wallpapers and other media which are used and viewed on mobile phone. This coupled with the gradual decrease in mobile data communication charges and the proliferation of mobile phone with large screens, rich multimedia supports, good quality media output, and Wi-Fi connectivity have contributed to the ever increasing popularity of mobile contents. It is reported that 85% of Malaysians own at least one mobile phone.
- With these marketing and product strategy, MNCW is confident that they will be able to share some good news in the next financial year.
MNCW’s expansion plan and financing
- Its single and largest asset in the company is their human resources. Therefore, MNCW is continuously recruiting talents with relevant industry experience to strengthen the team with dedicated teams servicing dedicated customers.

MNC Wireless ventures into world's first ad funded Mobile Broadband Service in Sweden
KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA – 17 January 2012 - MNC Wireless Berhad (“MNC” or “the Company”), a Malaysian based mobile and internet media specialist today announced that it has, via its associate company IntJoors Sverige AB (“Joors”) initiated the launch of “Joors”, the world’s first free high speed mobile internet service, in Sweden. The enabling technology and technical platforms for this new and exciting service was designed and developed by MNC, while the mobile broadband network is provided by TeliaSonera Mobile Networks AB in Sweden, on a wholesale basis.
The shareholders of Joors make up a collection of some of the best minds in telecommunications, advertising and media in the Nordic and Asian regions. Joors’ investors include Star Publications (M) Berhad, publisher of the most widely-read English language newspaper in Malaysia.
“It took us a little more than a year to bring the idea and concept of Joors to reality and we are extremely excited to be the world’s first to offer an ad-supported mobile broadband service in one of the most advanced telecommunications market. The concept of Joors is unique in the way that it creates a highly effective platform for digital ad targeting and interaction, while providing consumers with a very valuable commodity which is mobile internet access. The innovativeness of Joors is definitely going to set new trends and standards in both the telecommunications and media segments worldwide,” said Mr Chung Jaan Hao, Chief Executive Officer of MNC on the launch of Joors in Sweden.
Joors offers a one-of-a-kind service in the market that does away with the monthly fees or lengthy contract subscription periods. Users only need to pay a one-time start up fee for registration and they will be provided with free internet access, for normal usage, for every 30 days at a speed up to 10 Mbps. This is perfect for users to surf the web, check their emails, upload pictures and even download a short movie. For users who require more data capacity, they have the option to purchase extra data at competitive prices.
Joors mobile broadband is supported by advertising revenue from advertisers. As a digital media channel, it is able to deliver advertisements in multiple interactive audio and visual formats, while providing a platform for advertisers to devise creative campaigns that can attract and engage with their customers more effectively compared to other online and traditional media channels. What really sets it apart from the rest is its advertisement targeting capability.
“One of the main differentiator of Joors as a digital media channel is the ability for advertisers to target a wide and yet very specific audience, where it no longer matters which website, search engine or social networking service that the target audience is using. We are enveloping everything and there will be a lot of cleverness that we are building into the system to make this an advertisers’ dream come true while staying clear from creating an experience that may be deemed intrusive for our customer base,” says Mr Chung.
